Golnaz Karoubi Appointed Director of Summer Undergraduate Research Program

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Golnaz Karoubi has been appointed as the new Director of the Institute of Medical Science's Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP). 

Dr. Karoubi is a Scientist at UHN's Toronto General Hospital Research Institute and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology, bringing over 18 years of research experience in biomedical engineering. Her work focuses on translational basic science and tissue engineering, with a research program dedicated to advancing airway regeneration. The ultimate goal of her research is to develop clinically applicable therapeutic strategies for end-stage lung disease.

Beyond her scientific achievements, Dr. Karoubi is deeply committed to mentorship and education, fostering opportunities for students and trainees to thrive in research and innovation. Her leadership will strengthen SURP’s mission to inspire and train the next generation of scientists.
