Applications are invited for the position of Director of the Institute of Medical Science (IMS), an EDU:B in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate must currently hold an academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. The appointment as Director will be for a 5-year term effective July 1, 2026, renewable once following a favourable review.
The successful candidate will be a Full Time Clinical Academic (MD) or an Affiliated Scientist (PhD) within a Clinical Department in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. They will demonstrate a record of excellence in research and education, especially as it relates to supervising, mentoring and teaching graduate students at MSc and PhD levels. They must have a proven track record of collaborative and inclusive leadership with emphasis on student-centred approaches, healthy labs culture and faculty engagement in IMS.
They will have the ability to develop and implement strategic priorities that advance the mission of the IMS to inspire and prepare future leaders in translational medical science. They will be expected to lead and sustain an innovative and independent research program and maintain a competitive externally-funded research program at a national or international level.
