On February 13, five impressive teams took to the stage to compete in the IMS Healthcare Innovation Challenge 2025: Redefining Primary Care in Canada.
More than thirty teams were tasked with developing an innovative solution to the question of how AI can be leveraged to address critical challenges in primary care.
Students began by submitting written proposals. The top scoring teams advanced to the final round where they competed for $5,000 worth of prizes and access to iCube's Ideation Lab program.
In front of a live audience, the finalists had 5-minutes to pitch their idea and answer questions from our panel of expert judges. After careful deliberation, the winners were announced:
EMRald: Streamlining medical inboxes to help doctors prioritize urgent messages and reduce administrative burnout.
Presented by Mary Aglipay, Vanessa Bui, Ishita Gupta, Jeah Kim and Anushka Rajaram
Highway to Health: The fast lane to better healthcare: AI-driven triage that streamlines appointments and gets patients to the right care, faster.
Presented by Beatrice Acheson, Nicole Chrysler and Maya Pankiw
Turfit: A personal AI scribe and assistant that lets doctors focus on what matters most—caring for patients.
Presented by Steven Wang, Yiyang Wei and Elly Zhou
Congratulations to the award winners and all the participants for their ingenuity and hard work! Many thanks to the judges Dr. Jaswinder Dhillon, Dr. Dominik Nowak, Chantal Sorhaindo and Dr. Pascal Tyrrell for participating and sharing their insight and expertise.
