The Institute of Medical Science (IMS) recently welcomed Yilin Kong as our new Graduate Program Assistant, MSc. In this role Yilin provides administrative support to our master's students throughout the continuum of their degree.
Yilin brings a wealth of valuable experience, having previously worked at universities in both China and Canada. Before joining IMS, she served as a Program Coordinator at McMaster University, where she provided assistance to students, staff, and faculty for specialized graduate programs. Yilin received her Master of Education degree from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. She particularly enjoys working closely with students and creating a collaborative environment.
We asked Yilin a few fun get-to-know you questions:
What's your favourite thing to do in Toronto?
One of my favorite things to do in Toronto is to immerse myself in the natural beauty of its parks and beaches. From the lush greenery of High Park to the sweeping views at Riverdale Park, and the tranquil escape of Toronto Island to the sandy shores of Woodbine Beach, each destination offers its own unique charm and serenity.
Lately, I've found myself drawn to a delightful routine that never fails to lift my spirits. It starts with savoring a bowl of Pho from Pho Tien Thanh, followed by a visit to Bang Bang Ice Cream for their irresistible ice cream. Then I embark on a leisurely stroll to Trinity Bellwoods Park, where I can bask in the peaceful ambiance and soak up the warm sunshine.
Do you have any pets?
Ah, where do I begin with my beloved furry companions? Kimy and Fanfan are not just pets; they're cherished members of my family. I adopted them from Save Fur Pets, a charity organization where I've since become a dedicated volunteer and foster. Taking care of cats and helping them find loving homes fills me with a profound sense of purpose. It's incredibly fulfilling to know that I'm making a meaningful difference in their lives and contributing to making the world a better place, one purr at a time.
Please join us in welcoming Yilin to the IMS! She will be in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so feel free to stop by, introduce yourself and say hello in person.
