The IMS, in collaboration with the Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program and IMSSA, is excited to be hosting IMS Connects: Working in Industry on Thursday, May 29 from 4:30 - 7:00 PM at the MaRS building.

Join us for this in-person only panel and networking event where you can connect with successful professionals working in diverse careers in industry. All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Our panelists:

Dr. Anthony Cannavicci, Field Medical Affairs Scientist at Pfizer Canada
Anthony is a Field Medical Affairs Scientist at Pfizer Canada, specializing in hemophilia in Ontario and Western Canada. His leadership includes over seven years as President of HHT Canada THH, a charity for a rare genetic disease. In his current role, he maintains professional conduct and scientific integrity while engaging with team members and key opinion leaders. His passion for learning and curiosity about human diseases drive his commitment to delivering scientific value to HCPs and positively impacting patients with rare diseases. He graduated with a PhD from IMS in 2023.

Matthew Gee, Collaborations and External Engagement Director at Siemens Healthineers
After completing an MSc from U of T’s Department of Medical Biophysics, Matt worked on Bayer Canada’s Regulatory Affairs. Following Bayer’s divestiture of its in vitro diagnostics division in 2007, Matt led the Canadian Regulatory Affairs department of Siemens Healthineers until an opportunity arose to join the global team in Tarrytown, NY. In this expanded role, Matt helmed submissions to the US FDA and European authorities across a wide variety of therapeutic areas. Matt achieved several firsts for the company, including Breakthrough Device Designation and Emergency Use Authorization for COVID-19 devices. When developing a business strategy for liver fibrosis testing, Matt developed relationships with internationally recognized hepatologists, reigniting his passion or research. This led to him taking a position within Medical Affairs and joining the IMS as a PhD student in January 2025.

Dr. Olivia Hough, Clinical Scientist at Traferox Technologies Inc.
Olivia completed her PhD at IMS under the supervision of Dr. Shaf Keshavjee and Dr. Mingyao Liu studying ex vivo lung perfusion and its impact on lung transplantation. Her thesis focused on strategies for prolonging the duration of ex vivo lung perfusion to enable the use of lung therapeutics for lung repair. After graduating, Olivia joined Traferox Technologies as a Clinical Scientist, where she currently works on developing devices for ex vivo organ perfusion and for organ preservation. She also serves as a Scientific Associate at UHN, collaborating with researchers to contribute further scientific advances to the field of lung transplantation.

Dr. Stephanie Tran, Scientific Affairs Manager at Johnson and Johnson MedTech.
Stephanie graduated with a PhD from IMS in 2023. She previously received her MSc in neuroscience from the University of British Columbia in 2017. During her PhD degree, Stephanie also worked as a Research Projects Assistant and Communications Coordinator at IMS. In her current role as a Scientific Affairs Manager, she manages cross-functional projects, including clinical operations, promotional integrity, and medical information.
