The IMS, in collaboration with IMSSA and the Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Program is excited to be hosting IMS Connects Virtual: Careers in Science Communication. 

Join us for this virtual career panel, hosted by Pamela Plant, IMS Director for Graduate Professional Development. During this interactive event, you'll have the chance to hear from and connect with successful professionals working in diverse careers in science communication.

  • Chantel KowalchukChantel is an IMS PhD alumna and neuroscientist turned medical communicator. She currently works as the Medical Science Liaison in Psychiatry for Lundbeck Canada. Prior to this, she worked in medical communications where she progressed from Medical Writer up to Associate Medical Director. 
  • Mikaeel Valli - Mikaeel is an IMS PhD alumnus, and is currently a Medical Writer at IQVIA. He's also a former Medical Affairs Associate at Eisia Canada. He excels in collaborating with industry professionals, healthcare professionals, principal investigators, and key opinion leaders. Mikaeel is dedicated to advancing medical innovation to enhance the well-being of patients.
  • Betty ZouBetty received her PhD in molecular genetics from the University of Toronto. She has over 10 years of experience working in research and science communication at Sunnybrook Research Institute, the Canadian Cancer Society and U of T. She is a Senior Communications Officer at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Betty specializes in translating complex research topics into clear, compelling and engaging content for diverse audiences and channels, and providing strategic communications support for leaders.
