Research Synopsis

My research currently focuses on improving outcomes from aortic pathology (arch, thoracoabdominal and infrarenal aortic aneurysms) secondary to aneurysms and dissections. I study both open and endovascular procedures with a focus on prevention of complications such as renal dysfunction, spinal cord ischemia and mortality. Currently we are investigating biomarkers in both blood and CSF for early signals of spinal cord ischemia in TAAA. Also we are comparing outcomes of endovascular vs. open repairs for aneurysms and dissections.
I am also investigating the role of head and neck radiation therapy on the incidence of carotid stenosis and stroke.
