Dr. Matheson is the Unity Health Toronto, Chair in Homelessness, Housing and Health. She is a Sociologist leading the Justice & Equity Lab located at MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions, St. Michael’s Hospital and is an Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Situated at the intersection of health and social sciences, her program of research is the culmination of 20 years of sociological work on gender, justice, and social-structural inequities with a focus on the health and social challenges associated with problem gambling, poverty, and homelessness and traumatic brain injury, criminal justice involvement and homelessness. Her research is embedded in the community and engages people with lived expertise and service providers who support these communities.
