Research Synopsis

Dr. Cheung's current research can be divided into two content themes:

1) Musculoskeletal health-- postmenopausal osteoporosis, atypical femur fractures, metabolic and rare bone diseases, bone strength, sarcopenia and frailty. She is one of the co-lead PIs of OsNET, a national research network for bone health.

2) Long COVID -- she is currently running CANCOV (CANCOV.org), a national longitudinal observational study; RECLAIM (RECLAIMtrial.ca), an adaptive platform trial; and Long COVID Web (LongCOVIDWeb.ca), a national research network for long COVID.

Our group examines genetic and clinical risk factors, biomarkers, diagnostic tools, functional outcomes, quality of life, and performs health services research and cost-effectiveness analyses. We use innovative techniques (such as AI) and designs (e.g. adaptive platform trials). We focus on research that answers important clinical questions using prospective cohort studies, clinical trials and administrative data.
