Dr. Farag is a qualified and trained PET/MRI physicist. His research focuses on improving PET/MR image quality and PET quantification accuracy, which are necessary for disease diagnostics, prognostics, and therapy. Dr. Farag utilizes the MRI information to guide the reconstruction of better PET images using different approaches for different body regions, such as the brain, pelvis, and whole body. He collaborates with fellow scientists, oncologists, interventionalists, and radiologists to characterize hypoxia in cancerous and non-cancerous tissue using kinetic modelling. He also leads the research and development of automated tools, including deep learning techniques to assess biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease.
