IMS Research Rounds: Surgical Outcomes Research

Type
Lecture

Join us for breakfast as we hear from IMS trainees about their research on surgical outcomes:

  • Ariana Walji’s research examines whether artificial intelligence tools meaningfully improve surgical safety when implemented in real-world operating rooms. It also explores how these tools can be designed and integrated to meet surgical team needs while accounting for cost and environmental impact, enabling scalable, practical adoption across healthcare settings.

  • Alexia Mitsopoulos' research examines outcomes after adrenalectomy, a surgery to remove one or both of the adrenal glands, by comparing two main approaches, minimally invasive (laparoscopic) and open surgery, to examine which approach works best for which patients.
  • Ellene Yan’s research focuses on understanding and improving perioperative care for older surgical patients, with an emphasis on the role of cognitive impairment in surgical recovery.
