Research Synopsis

Shehryar is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Communications at University of Toronto. His research focuses on understanding the complex interplay and mutual influences of design strategy, visual treatment, scientific accuracy and pedagogical goals, particularly in the context of engineering education. This includes the multifaceted decision-making process behind when, how, and why certain design approaches may be more favourable in relation to audience, mode of dissemination/integration, pedagogical value/application, design considerations and technological underpinnings. As part of this research, he develops tools and resources to support visualization practitioners within the constraints of real-world production contexts.
