Research Synopsis

Research in Dr. Papsin's lab is directed at determining how the auditory system develops after cochlear implantation in young children. Dr. Papsin's lab examines the auditory system using electrophysiologic measurements and compare the time course of development with the known rates of development for persons with normal hearing. In addition, they analyze speech and language outcomes to identify the optimal time for cochlear implantation and possible factors that might predict superior performance.
