Research Synopsis

Dr. Jung is an Assistant Professor at Department of Surgery, University of Toronto, a staff surgeon at St. Michael’s Hospital, and a scientist at Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. He completed his medical school and general surgery residency training at the University of Toronto. During residency, he obtained PhD in clinical epidemiology and health services research through the Surgeon-Scientist Training Program. His clinical fellowship training was in minimally invasive foregut/bariatric surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. His clinical interests include minimally invasive foregut, bariatric, and abdominal wall hernia surgery. His primary research interests are in using machine learning for early detection of clinical deterioration in surgical patients. Dr. Jung has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and several book chapters.
