Research Synopsis:
Dr. Mitchell’s research focuses on sex- and gender-related differences in mood disorders, self-harm, and suicide among children and adolescents. More recently, her work has examined the impact of social media platforms, particularly TikTok, on youth mental health and suicide risk. Using observational studies, clinical trials, health administrative data, and psychosocial research, her research aims to develop targeted suicide prevention and resilience-building strategies that improve mental health outcomes for young people.
