Benjamin Davidson
Research Synopsis:
Dr. Davidson’s research bridges neurosurgery, neuroimaging, and neurotechnology to develop precision, circuit-based therapies for brain disorders. His lab combines advanced MRI methods — including 7-tesla structural, diffusion, and resting-state fMRI — with invasive electrophysiologic recordings from deep brain stimulation (DBS) and focused ultrasound (FUS) interventions to map and modulate human brain networks. Ongoing projects span treatment-resistant psychiatric illness, addiction, and disorders of consciousness, using multimodal biomarkers to understand and predict therapeutic response.
By integrating connectomic analyses with electrophysiologic and behavioral data, the lab aims to move toward individualized, closed-loop neuromodulation strategies that link brain network dynamics to real-world outcomes. Graduate trainees gain hands-on experience in neuroimaging analysis, invasive human neuroscience, and translational research at the interface of technology and clinical care.
