It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former IMS faculty member Dr. John C. Roder. Dr. Roder passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2018 with his family by his side.
Dr. Roder was a long-standing member of the IMS, serving as faculty from 1991 until he retired in 2016. Throughout his tenure with the IMS he supervised 11 students, served on countless Program Advisory Committees and was involved with our Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
Dr. Roder held a post as a Canada Research Chair in Learning and Memory, made important contributions to the fields of immunology and neurobiology and acted as a mentor to many of our country’s most successful neuroscientists.
Our deepest condolences go out to Dr. Roder’s family and friends. His passing is an enormous loss for the IMS and the wider research community.
