This issue also spotlights urgent and thought‑provoking topics, including pain management in the ED, synthetic platelets for trauma healing, Canada’s rural emergency care crisis, the impact of the youth mental health crisis on EDs, worsening emergency wait times, the ethical use of AI in the ED, and a new ED  peer‑support program at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto.
