Congratulations to IMS Vanier Award Winners 2018

The IMS would like to congratulate our students who were awarded prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships this year. This Canadian Institutes of Health Research award, administered by the Vanier-Banting Secretariat, is a highly competitive research scholarship only funded to the most exceptionally ranked doctoral students in Canada.

2018 Winners:

Tina Binesh Marvasti, PhD student

Supervisor: Dr. Ren-Ki Li

Research Area:Identifying and rejuvenating the bone marrow stem cells responsible for preventing heart failure in elderly cardiac patients.

 

Sahil Gupta, PhD Student

Supervisor: Dr. John Marshall

Research Area: Tyrosine phosphorylation of caspase-8 regulates Toll Like Receptor 4 dependent signalling during clinical sepsis.

 

Irene Harmsen, PhD Student

Supervisor: Dr. Andres Lozano

Research Area: Improving the Quality of Life of Patients with Parkinson’s Disease using Deep Brain Stimulation and Magnetoencephalography.

 

Farshad Nassiri, PhD Student

Supervisor: Dr. Gelareh Zadeh

Research Area:Establishing the oncogenomic landscape of clinically aggressive meningiomas.
